Tanker truck driver escapes serious injuries in Sandakan road accident

SANDAKAN: A tanker truck was involved in a road accident near Mile 9 Jalan Labuk at noon on Saturday, June 14.
Preliminary police investigations revealed the tanker truck was traveling from Lungmanis towards Batu Sapi, when the rear tank suddenly detached and fell onto the roadside.
The truck driver miraculously escaped serious injuries.
The incident resulted in crude palm oil from the tank to spill onto the road.
Sandakan firemen were called to the scene to clean up the oil spill while traffic policemen were at the scene to conduct traffic control.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules (LN 166/59), acting OCPD Supt K. Ramasamy Kuppan said in a statement. – James Leong
