Seri Mengasih holds first post-Covid gathering for families, students

KOTA KINABALU: Seri Mengasih Centre, a non-government organisation dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, hosted its first Family Day event post-Covid.
The event, held at the newly renovated ASD Training Centre, was fun-filled, bringing together students, their families, and the centre’s staff for a celebration of unity, joy, and inclusivity.
The event was officiated by the centre’s Committee Management Chairman, Tulip Noorazyze.
Parents and their children brought potluck food and drinks to underscore the importance of family involvement in the holistic development of individuals with special needs.
Attendees enjoyed a diverse range of engaging activities designed to promote interaction and create lasting memories.
These included an aerobic session, various fun games, and spontaneous lively performances by the students themselves, showcasing their hidden talents, as well as the sharing of meals.
“Our Annual Family Day is more than just an event; it’s a vital part of our mission to ensure our students and their families feel supported, valued, and connected.
“Seeing the joy on the faces of our students as they participate alongside their families and friends is truly heartwarming.
“It reinforces our belief that with love, understanding, and the right support, every individual can lead a life of hope and dignity,” said Tulip.
The centre expressed its gratitude to all the families, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
Their continued dedication and generosity enable the centre to carry on its invaluable work in empowering individuals with special needs to achieve their fullest potential and integrate successfully into the community. – Wu Vuide
