Tawau police arrest three suspects in two separate intimidation cases

TAWAU: The cops here arrested three individuals including two foreigners, in two separate criminal intimidation cases in the district.
In the first case, two foreign women were detained by police for allegedly being involved in a criminal intimidation case against a local woman last December. Acting OCPD Superintendent Champin Piuh, stated that the incident occurred about 6.15 pm in front of a shop in the Kampung Kurnia area, Mile 4 Jalan Apas.
According to him, the 25-year-old victim claimed she was threatened by both suspects, who were also her acquaintances and neighbours.
“During the incident, both suspects were said to have uttered threatening words to the victim,” he said.
The victim subsequently lodged a police report at the Tawau Police Station. Following investigations, a team of policemen from the District Criminal Investigation Division arrested both suspects, aged in their 20s, on Feb 21 at around 1.30 pm in the vicinity of Bandar Sabindo.
Meanwhile, the second case involved a 33-year-old local man who was detained for criminal intimidation and causing hurt. The incident occurred at a restaurant in Kubota Sentral, about 4.00 am on Feb 21.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, claimed he was beaten and punched by the suspect, who was known to him.
“The suspect then pointed a fork at the victim and threatened to stab him,” said Champin.
During the same incident, the suspect also threw a chair at the victim’s vehicle, causing scratches to the rear passenger door. Acting on information, a team of policemen arrested the suspect at around 1.00 pm behind a commercial premises at Jalan Sin Onn, Tawau.
“The first case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. The second case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and the same Section 506 of the Penal Code,” Champin disclosed. – James Leong
