MAWILLA 2 channels aid to flood victims in Paitan

PAITAN: The Naval Region 2 Headquarters (MAWILLA 2) demonstrated its concern for communities affected by severe flooding in this district by implementing the Pure Soul Madani Program on Friday.
The floods, which struck on February 20, impacted several villages. As part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative, the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) organised a relief mission to the affected areas.
According to a MAWILLA 2 statement, the relief team departed from KPTLDM Taman Samudera at 8.30 am and safely arrived at SK Golong, Paitan, at 12.45 pm.
The humanitarian mission was led by Komander Mohd Nor Hadidi Ismail, the Chief of Staff for Operations at MAWILLA 2, along with three officers and 15 personnel, including four drivers.
Various essential items were distributed to approximately 40 affected families. The supplies included kitchen necessities, cooking utensils, second-hand clothing for adults and children, as well as school supplies.
The aid was channelled to affected residents from Kampung Golong, Kampung Pinampadan, Kampung Kaindangan 1 and 2, and Kampung Kinggaton housed at the temporary relief centre in SK Golong.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of SK Golong, representing the villagers, expressed the highest appreciation and gratitude to RMN Sandakan. He described the effort as very meaningful, especially considering the long distance travelled from Sandakan to Paitan.
This program is part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative implemented by the RMN. The initiative aims to ensure a close relationship between the military and the civilian community remains at an optimal level, while also fulfilling its social responsibility in helping those in need. – James Leong
