LABUAN: Following the successful assistance of two stateless athletes in obtaining Malaysian citizenship two years ago, the Labuan Wushu community has once again received good news. The Secretary General of the Labuan Wushu Association, Tan Chee Haw, has successfully helped Muhammad Amirul complete his citizenship application process.
Tan stated that sports are not merely a platform for competition, but also an important tool to change lives. He firmly believes that every child should have equal opportunities, they can strive for a better future through hard work and perseverance. “After helping two athletes successfully obtain citizenship earlier, we are now witnessing the results of our efforts once again. For us, this is not just the completion of a procedure, but a continuation of our responsibility.”
Recently Muhammad Amirul delivered an outstanding performance at the National “Sanda King” (Gan Kong Lee Cup) Open Championship, securing third place in the youth category (48–52 kg) and contributing a bronze medal to the team. His mother, Jabira Binti Sahiman, expressed her relief and heartfelt gratitude: “We are very thankful to Tan Chee Haw and the relevant authorities for their assistance. This means a lot to us.”
At the same time, Tan also expressed special thanks to Grandmaster (Dr.) Alvin Cardall Chong, president of the association, for his unwavering support and assistance behind the scenes. “Without the president’s continuous support and guidance, this process would not have been completed so smoothly. He always cares deeply about the future of these children and this gives us great confidence and motivation.”
Tan further emphasized that we will continue to pay attention to more talented stateless athletes in the future, hoping to use the power of sports to create more opportunities for them. “As long as the children are willing to work hard, we will do our very best to support them.
