PENAMPANG: The upgrading of Jalan Buayan and Jalan Terian is ahead of schedule by 45 days and 58 days respectively.
Deputy Chief Minister II and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the RM73.868 million Jalan Buayan project has reached 76.64 per cent completion.
It remains on its original schedule for completion in August 2027 without any Extension of Time (EOT).

Ewon, who is also Deputy Chief Minister III and Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, said they are satisfied with the progress of both projects, which are ahead of schedule.
“On behalf of the people of Penampang, particularly the communities in this sub-district, we hope both projects will proceed smoothly and be completed as scheduled — May 2028 for Jalan Terian and August 2027 for Jalan Buayan,” he said after inspecting both projects.
He said current progress gives confidence that both deadlines will be met.
Also present were Moyog Assemblyman Datuk Donald Mojuntin, representatives from the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR), the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), the Sabah Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Penampang Municipal Council.
Ewon thanked the Federal Government, the Ministry of Finance and KKDW for funding and implementing the projects.
He said three schools will benefit — SK Terian, SK Buayan and SK Longkogungan, located about 12km away.
About 3,000 residents in Kg Terian, Kg Tiku, Kg Buayan and Kg Longkogungan will benefit.
“With better roads, local communities can develop their land for agriculture and tourism. As activity grows, thousands more visitors will use these roads,” he said. – Wu Vuide
