TAWAU: Police arrested six people in separate cases involving drugs, immigration offences and criminal intimidation in Tawau and Lahad Datu on Oct 5 and 6.
In Tawau, two foreign youths, aged 18 and 19, were arrested near Brumpada Police Post at about 9pm on Oct 6 after they were spotted behaving suspiciously.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said no illegal items were found during a body search, but both had no valid travel documents.
They were taken to the District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division for investigation under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. No drugs were seized.
In a separate case, police arrested a man in Kampung Tanah Merah, Jalan Tanjung Batu, after he allegedly threatened to burn down his family home and acted aggressively towards his 84-year-old father.
Rosdi said the suspect had allegedly thrown objects at his father and frequently damaged household items. The elderly man and his wife later lodged a police report, fearing for their safety.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Meanwhile, Lahad Datu police arrested three people in two raids under Op Tapis.
The first raid at a telecommunications facility in Kampung Tanjung Labian on Oct 5 led to the arrest of a 33-year-old local security guard and a 29-year-old Filipino woman.
A second raid at a house in Kampung Agaseh early the following day resulted in the arrest of a 50-year-old Filipino woman who had no valid travel documents.
Police seized eight packets of suspected syabu weighing 6.05 grammes and worth an estimated RM660, as well as a pair of scissors, a modified drinking straw and aluminium foil.
All three suspects tested negative for drugs during initial screening. The case is being investigated under Sections 12(2) and 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
