On June 18, Chen Gang, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee, stated that Guangxi is willing to work with ASEAN countries to promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in all links of fruit variety R&D, planting, picking, processing, and sales, create more vertical application scenarios, and achieve the goal of ” Produced in ASEAN, Distributed via Guangxi, Sold Nationwide”.
The event ” ASEAN Fruits Gather in Guangxi for Easier and Better RCEP Trade: A Better Experience – Shopping in China ? Guangxi Station” was held in Nanning on the same day, where Chen made the remarks.
As a frontier and window for China’s opening-up and cooperation with ASEAN, Guangxi serves as the “gateway hub” for ASEAN fruits entering the Chinese market. The event aims to make fruits a “sweet bond” to further strengthen China-ASEAN relations and help both sides deepen cooperation in cultural tourism, cross-border e-commerce, and other fields.

Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Commerce, said in a video address that the event is a concrete measure for Guangxi to actively implement the “Shopping in China” series of activities and boost consumption. It will help China deepen cooperation with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member states in circulation consumption, cross-border logistics, supply chains, and digital trade.
Samheng Bora, Secretary of State of Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, said that in recent years, under the promotion of cooperation mechanisms like RCEP, economic and trade ties between Cambodia and China have developed steadily. Next, as the two sides gradually complete the import procedures for durians, bilateral trade will maintain a growth trend.
“AI is leading the transformation of the era. Brunei appreciates Guangxi’s use of AI technology to enrich consumers’ shopping experience from farm to table, and hopes this event will further strengthen trade ties between the two sides,” said Rahmani, Ambassador of Brunei to China.
Dong Yuhui, a well-known livestreamer and head of Time With Yuhui (Beijing) Technology Ltd., said he will leverage the advantages of livestream e-commerce to strengthen cooperation with Guangxi in promoting characteristic high-quality agricultural products and cultural tourism industries, allowing more people to “taste the sweetness of ASEAN fruits and savor the deliciousness of Guangxi products”.

To promote China-ASEAN fruit trade, Zhang Songsheng, Executive Chairman of Singapore’s PIL Group and Chairman of the Board of Singapore-Guangxi Integrated Developments Pte. Ltd., invested in building the China-ASEAN (Nanning) Fruit Trading Center in Nanning. He said the center will directly connect with ASEAN source orchards, build an efficient and convenient multimodal logistics network, and realize temperature-controlled container transportation, enabling ASEAN fruits to be efficiently distributed from Guangxi to all parts of China.
On the day of the event, more than 80 ASEAN fruit suppliers and business association representatives signed over 20 cooperation projects worth more than 15 billion RMB. The organizer released the China (Guangxi) – ASEAN Fruit Large Model and initiated an initiative to build a China-ASEAN AI cooperation ecosystem, using AI to empower the gathering of ASEAN fruits in Guangxi.
