LAHAD DATU: The District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) here arrested a 41-year-old local man during a drug-related operation on August 25.
The bust took place in the parking area of Darvel Bay Plaza along Jalan Teratai. According to Lahad Datu OCPD ACP Dzulbahrin Haji Ismail, a subsequent search led the police team to the discovery of 2,000 grams of methamphetamine or syabu, with an estimated street value of RM94,000.
In addition to the drugs, police also seized an iPhone 14 believed to have been used by the suspect to facilitate his drug distribution activities. Two vehicles were also impounded to facilitate further probe.
A preliminary urine test on the suspect returned negative for drug use. Nevertheless, he remains in custody as the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The cops are conducting deeper inquiries to trace the drug supply source, uncover the suspect’s modus operandi, and identify the broader syndicate network involved in this case.
