TAWAU: Two separate incidents led to the arrest of two local men, one for obstructing public officers in the discharge of their duties, and another for threatening his own family on May 9.
The first incident happened during a Special Ops operation to track down a wanted person at a house in Kampung Blok 31, Mile 17 Jalan Apas Balung.
“The police went to the location to arrest a woman linked to a police report filed in Beaufort. However, the suspect – a local man, aged 35, who is the husband of the wanted person – refused to cooperate and became aggressive during the arrest. A brief struggle ensued before police successfully subdued him,” said OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin.
The suspect was taken to the police station for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, in Kampung Tanjung Batu, Tanah Merah, an elderly woman was nearly hit with a wooden chair by her son following a dispute over the sale of mangoes. The suspect’s father filed a police report over the incident.
“Following the report, a police team arrested the suspect, a local man aged 45. The suspect was allegedly dissatisfied because a man had bought mangoes from his parents, leaving his own mangoes unsold,” explained Jasmin.
The suspect was taken to the police station for further probe under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
