LAHAD DATU: Policemen from the District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJND) here arrested two suspects in two separate raids at Kampung Busul, Jalan Sapagaya on Thursday.
The BSJND team detained a 17-year-old male who was acting suspiciously in a swampy area at 9.30 am, based on information received.
An inspection revealed the suspect was in possession of six (6) transparent plastic packets of various sizes containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, with a total weight of 52.71 grammes.
Also seized were a green boat and an outboard engine, believed to have been used for drug distribution activities. The teenager did not possess any personal identification documents.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
Shortly afterwards, at 10.00 am, the BSJND team arrested a 59-year-old local man in an oil palm plantation area within the vicinity.
An inspection of this suspect found one (1) transparent plastic packet containing a crystalline substance suspected to be syabu, weighing 0.06 grammes. A preliminary urine screening test confirmed he was positive for drugs.
This case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.
