KOTA BELUD: Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick said the proposed 13,000-acre Kota Belud Industrial Park master plan will be presented at the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
Ewon, who is also Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister, said this is aimed at developing new industrial parks in Kota Belud and Kudat to strengthen the state’s economic growth.
The proposed area is sited in the Pintasan constituency. It will be developed by Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).
“I am confident that the Chief Minister and Cabinet members will support this proposal, enabling us to begin marketing efforts and attracting investors,” he said at a Hari Raya open house at Kampung Tegudon.
Ewon said the State Government will encourage domestic and international companies to consider investing and setting up operations in the industrial park.
“We will be creating economic opportunities for the local community to participate in service chain activities or for graduates from Kota Belud to work in companies within the park in the future,” he said.
He will also lead trade missions abroad and accompany the Chief Minister to China to meet potential investors.
“This initiative is implemented together with State and Federal Government agencies to strengthen Sabah’s economy, provide job opportunities for graduates and open up opportunities for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” he said.
