KOTA KINABALU: A charity orchestra concert will be held in Likas next month to raise funds for youth development programmes in Sabah.
The concert, titled “Harmony of Hope”, is jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu, the Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sabah Skills and Technology Centre (SSTC).
It will be held on 15 November 2026.
The performance will take place at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Cawangan Sabah, Likas, in two sessions.
The first session, from 2pm to 4pm, is reserved for occupants of charity homes and students. The second session, from 7.30pm to 10pm, is open to the general public.
Organisers said the concert aims to turn music into opportunity for young Sabahans.
Funds raised will support three areas of youth development – leadership and community service, musical education and talent development, and skills training for school leavers preparing for employment.
The collaboration brings together three different strengths: community service, music and technical training.
The organisers said the initiative reflects a shared belief that every young person deserves a chance to learn, grow and contribute.
“The funds will help expand opportunities for young people across different stages – from students building confidence and leadership skills to aspiring musicians and school leavers seeking practical pathways into work,” the organisers said.
Members of the public, businesses and community organisations are invited to support the initiative through ticket purchases, sponsorships, donations and advertisements in the concert programme book.
Organisers said beyond fundraising, the concert aims to foster generosity and collaboration in the community. – Wu Vuide
