KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) clarified that they did not endorse any individual as a candidate for the upcoming State Election at this juncture.
“Any statement claiming that PBS has named or supports a particular individual is not from the party and does not represent the party’s official stance,” said Secretary-General Datuk Julita Majungki in a statement yesterday.
She said the process of identifying and finalising potential candidates is still ongoing and will be decided collectively by the PBS leadership.
“All official announcements on candidacy will only be made through proper channels and must be quoted directly from the Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
“Any statement made without this authority is false and misleading,” said Julita.
PBS also called on all divisions and branches to continue their preparations for the upcoming election and to focus on strengthening party machinery at the grassroots level.
“We urge the media and the public to verify any information with the party’s official sources to avoid confusion and misinformation,” she said.
PBS also concurred with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s statement that GRS would be working with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming State Election, she said.
This is on the basis that GRS would be the dominant partner as discussed and decided in meetings between the GRS chairman and the presidents of component parties, including with our acting president, she said.
“I also wish to clarify that our Acting President was unable to attend the opening of the recent PGRS annual general meeting as he was in Beaufort to officiate the simultaneous opening of five PBS division’s annual general meetings,” said Julita.
PBS was represented by senior leaders including Deputy Presidents Datuk Seri Jahid Jahim and Datuk Seri Dr Yee Moh Chai and myself.
