SANDAKAN: MCA Sabah distributed the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) and Sabah state flags to 10 Chinese vernacular schools (SJKC) in Sandakan on Wednesday.
A total of 1,000 flags, donated by MCA Sabah Treasurer Dato’ Chin Kim Hiung, were handed over personally by him to representatives of the respective schools.
According to Chin, the distribution of these flags aims to foster patriotism and love for the country, especially among the younger generation.
He also encouraged Sandakan residents to proudly display the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah state flag in conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations.
Each SJKC received 100 flags, courtesy of Chin, who is also the MCA Libaran division chief.
Also present at the event were Chin Tze Min, Chairman of the Sandakan SJKC Management Committee Association, Chang Fui Chew, Chairman of the Sandakan SJKC Headmasters’ Council, MCA Sandakan division chairman Kok Sui Yee, MCA Kinabatangan deputy division chairman Bryan Au and committee members from both divisions. – James Leong
