Public urged to support JCI blood donation drive

KOTA KINABALU: JCI Tanjung Aru is organising a blood donation drive in collaboration with Sunway Medical Centre on April 6, 2025 at Suria Sabah here.
President Joanna Chong said the meaningful event aims to encourage the community to come together and contribute to saving lives by donating blood and replenishing the Blood Bank’s stocks.
“Your one donation could help multiple patients in need and make a difference in someone’s life.
“We will be providing free goodie bags and food for successful donors as a token of appreciation,” said Joanna.
Additionally, she said a range of free health screenings will be offered to all participants.
“These screenings are designed to help individuals understand their current health status and take any preventive step if necessary,” she said.
These include a blood glucose test to monitor sugar levels, a blood-pressure check to ensure heart health, and a cholesterol test to reduce the risk of heart disease.
There will also be a glaucoma screening to protect eyesight, as the silent condition can cause irreversible blindness.
A mobile ECG (electrocardiogram) health screening will also be available, providing an easy and efficient way to check heart health.
“These screenings are essential for the early detection of health issues, and knowing where you stand could be the key to preventing more serious conditions in the future.
“Together, we can help save lives and make a positive impact on the community,” she said.
