Lahad Datu to conduct tsunami disaster drill on November 4

LAHAD DATU: The district police headquarters here will conduct a tsunami disaster drill on November 4 (Wednesday) involving Kampung Telisai Tungku, Pulau Sakar and Teluk Darvel.
District Police Chief ACP Haji Dzulbaharin Haji Ismail said on October 29 that the exercise would comprise a Table-Top Exercise (TTX) and a Full-Scale Exercise (FTX) to assess operational readiness, strengthen communication mechanisms and improve coordination among agencies involved in disaster response.
He urged the public to remain calm during the exercise, stressing that the presence of additional personnel, emergency vehicles and search-and-rescue teams would be part of the simulation and did not indicate an actual tsunami threat.
Dzulbaharin also warned that several roads in the affected areas would be temporarily closed to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth conduct of the drill.
Motorists were advised to follow instructions from officers on duty and use designated alternative routes during the exercise.
He further cautioned the public against spreading false information, speculation or unverified photographs and videos related to the drill, noting that such content could cause unnecessary alarm.
Members of the public are urged to verify information through official Royal Malaysia Police channels before sharing it.
