SEMPORNA: OCPD Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah, on Tuesday led a walkabout programme to strengthen police-community relations and deliver crime prevention messages.
He was accompanied by Deputy OCPD DSP Jaafar Hakim, along with other police personnel.
The programme involved visits and friendly conversations with business owners, financial institutions, and members of the public around the Semporna district.
During the programme, the police team provided detailed explanations of the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application and the Community Complaint QR Code.
Both digital platforms serve as convenient channels for the public to directly submit information or complaints related to crime to the police.
Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah also took the opportunity to offer direct safety and crime prevention advice to members of the public he met.
This initiative aims to heighten public vigilance and awareness in the shared effort to combat crime. The walkabout programme received a positive response from the public.
It successfully conveyed important information and played a role in further strengthening the close relationship and cooperation between the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Semporna folks. – James Leong
